GE not honoring 6 year warranty after 4 years - GE Hot Water Heater
I just purchased a home that has a leaky GE hot water heater that was manufactured and purchased in 2012 by the previous owner. He has the receipt from a local plumbing company "OC Residential Services" which purchased and installed the water heater in 2012. I call GE and they tell me that I have to take the hot water heater back to where it was purchased and that that company needs to give me a pro-rated refund to be used for a new hot water heater and that GE will then accept the faulty hot water heater back from them. I then call OC Residential Services and they tell me that they will replace the hot water heater but when they send a guy to come do the job he tells me that they aren't going to replace anything and that I need to work with GE to get a new water heater and they aren't part of the warranty process. He says they don't even keep records of where they purchase their hot water heaters and that GE should be able to tell me where it was purchased based on the serial number. GE will not work with me at all with this issue even though the product is clearly under warranty. They just want me to put this issue on some other company but they need to take care of this because they are the ones who designed this poor product and they are the ones that promised a 6 year warranty when it was purchased. If this does not get resolved I will never ever purchase another GE product again and I will make sure to tell everyone I know that they will never get their warranties honored if they go GE. Shame on you GE...
